Mardit Matian

Founder

A mechanical engineer with a PhD from Imperial College London in the field of fuel cells, Mardit has 20+ years of working experience in the field of low/high temperature FCs including PEM/SOFC, production of hydrogen from electrolyzers, and reformers. He has worked in both specialised fuel cell companies in the UK and Switzerland, as well as large enterprises such as ABB, and has numerous patents to his name.  Mardit is EH Group's technical development and strategy lead.

Christopher Brandon

Co-Founder

As an active macro and clean-tech investor, Christopher has a MA(Hons) Economics University of Edinburgh and began his career in 1995 at SBC/UBS Warburg as a foreign exchange proprietary trader in Geneva, London & Singapore.  In 2000, he co-founded a leading currency hedge fund, providing uncorrelated absolute returns to institutional clients, and raising over US $2bn over a 20-year period. Christopher is responsible for EH Group's finance and business strategy. 

Anand Vasappanavara

Principal Control/Automation Engineer

A mechanical engineer with an ME from the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) and a BTech from IIT Madras, Anand has 16+ years of experience at major companies in the fields of renewable energy, oil/gas and the automotive industries in India and China. He is specialised in fuel cell, system and control/automation design with 7 patents in the field.

Alexandre Chainho

Lead Fuel Cell Developer

With an Associate Degree in Automated Mechanical Systems from LEP (France), Alexandre is responsible for the design of new fuel cell concepts under development in the company. He has 19+ years of experience in low/ high temperature materials, assembly, system design and prototyping (3D-CAD design & assessment), draft & design of automotive assembly line components.  

Manale Maalouf

Business Development Manager

A chemical engineer and passionate advocate for hydrogen innovation, with over a decade of experience bridging science, management, sustainability, and customer partnerships. Holding a PhD specializing in fuel cells, and an executive MBA from Germany’s top business school, she combines technical expertise with business acumen. Her international journey spans from US, Germany and Switzerland including roles at BASF and big automotive players.

Danny Knippen

Safety, Reliability & Certification Engineer

Danny has 9+ years’ experience in automotive OEMs developing & certifying powertrains for major groups including DAF Truck and Liebeherr. He leads EH Group's certification & development initiatives across stationary, maritime and aviation sectors. BSc Mechanical Engineer Rotterdam University.

Group Chairman of specialist asset manager Unigestion since 1976, and President Famsa Foundation and Children Action. Co-founder of the Museum of Modern Art in Geneva and active on various boards and bodies including the Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship at LSE and the Global Commission on Science Missions for Sustainability.
